I'm planning to buy a Super 8 camera, but I don't know much, so I need some help.
I take a lot of still photos, and at school I have Video Production. I like both things a lot, but I like film better than video, and I want my pictures to move!
I have some lenses for my camera (Canon A-1), and thay have a C-mount lens. I was looking for a Super 8 camera at eBay, and some of them use C-mount lenses. Are those the same for those cameras as for my Canon
A-1? So I can use my old lenses on my Super8?
Is there anything else I should know?
Thanks,
Olav Pekeberg

Thank's a lot for your help tashunka!
chrust19: I go (went to, we got out on friday) to High School in Vancouver, WA. I'm an exchangestudent, so I go back to Norway in July. One more year of High School, and then hopefully a film-school.
Also, what is a good camera to buy for me. I have never had one before, but I don't want one of those you cannot change the f-stop on. I also want to be able to look through the lens, to see what I get on film. From what I have seen on eBay a lot of them doesn't have these options. I assume that a motion camera isn't that much different from a still camera (...?), and I do a lot of stills, so I want to be able to get pictures like I get with my Canon A-1, but moving of course.
Thanks again,
Olav

Most s8's that use interchangeable lenses have adapters so you can use most common lenses. also remember that the film is 1/16 the area of 35mm so your lens will create a much larger image as compared to 35.

Canon, Sankyo, Nikon, Nizo all make cameras like you are looking for, as well as many others. Canons and Sankyos are probably the most common and easy to find. I think canon makes nicer lenses. If you are willing to spend a bit of dough you can get some really nice features......dissolves, fades, single frame(timelapse and animation), large zoooms, macro focusing, numerous frame rates for high speed or slow motion.
i too come from a still photography background and it is quite an easy transition to shoot film if you already have a good understanding of film, exposure, and the way cameras work in general.

You should be able to get a pretty nice camera for 30-40 bucks and a kick ass camera for 150-200 (these prices are canadian so ???). Canon 514 is a good model. You may find some cameras that take sound striped super8 stock, they are usually quite a bit bigger, due to "blimping" and all the extra equipment needed. It is virtually impossible to get sound super8 these days so there isn't any advantage to these cameras. They can still use the normal super8 though so if you find one with all the features you want scoop it up. The best place I've found to buy a camera is ........VALUE VILLAGE.
